Karl Peters - Corporate Executive Chef / 2019
I started my career in South Lake Tahoe working for my classically trained Swiss father's catering company. I earned $.01 for each crepe that passed inspection. I then completed a three-year apprenticeship with Westin Hotels and Resorts in Seattle. I traveled with Westin learning different cuisines and styles of cooking from a variety of chefs. This broughtme from one coast to the other and back again. I moved from Seattle to Tahoe, Hawaii, Los Angeles, Orlando, Detroit, Coral Gables, San Francisco, Reno and now back to the Bay Area.
I have received the honor of the Master Chef title from the International Food and Beverage Society. I have been a Culinary Instructor for the California Culinary Academy and Treasure Island Job Corps. I have cooked for five U.S. Presidents, King Gustaf XVI and Queen Sylvia of Sweden, along with numerous celebrities and athletes, my favorite being "Joltin" Joe DiMaggio! I'm also a two-time Chef of the Year recipient: one from the ACF-SF Chapter in 2012 and one from the ACF-High Sierra Chapter in 2017. My team won the Grand Champion for the Chocolate in Fantasy competition in Reno in 2018.
I see the same passion that drives my success in the Catered Too! team. I'm looking forward to using my 50-year career to help the team in making every guest and client happy beyond their wildest dreams.
